The Quakers’ scoring leader in total points … Sources say Lowrey was born in 1906, but he played at the University of Ottawa as early as 1921, so the date is in doubt … Pro career started with the University of Ottawa in 1921-22 and continued with the Iroquois Falls Eskimos, the North Bay Trappers, and the London AAA, Ravens, and Panthers … At 5’ 8”, 150 pounds, was a bit on the small side for forwards of the time ... NHL start was with the Toronto Maple Leafs; London traded him to Toronto just as the 1927-28 season started … While a Leaf, received press notice for fine stick-handling … Traded to Pittsburgh on February 12, 1929 for left wing Harold “Baldy” Cotton; Pittsburgh also received $9,500 … In 12 games for the Pirates, Lowrey scored two goals and added an assist ... Came in second behind Harold Darragh in scoring for Pittsburgh in 1929-30, totaling 16 goals and 14 assists in 44 games … The Toronto Star praised Lowrey’s stick handling in a game versus the Americans while he was with Toronto, called him a “utility player” once he was traded for Cotton, but in February 1930 said Lowrey was “one player who always put up a great fight in the vicinity of his opponents’ goal” and was having the best year of his career with forward passing now allowed in all three zones … Missed the Quakers’ first game on November 11 because he did not sign his contract until the next day … Got 13 goals and 14 assists in 43 games for the Quakers, making him the team leader in points with 27 … His point total was just over half the total for the 1930-31 NHL top point-getter (Howie Morenz of the Montreal Canadiens, with 28 goals, 23 assists for 51 points) … Lowrey scored the last Quaker goal on March 21, 1931, when the Quakers tied the Canadiens 4-4 at the Montreal Forum ... Claimed by the Chicago Black Hawks in the dispersal draft of September 26, 1931 … Played 48 games for Chicago in 1931-32 (eight goals, three assists) ... Last played in NHL: 1932-33 with the Ottawa Senators (seven games) ... Played in the minors in St. Paul/Tulsa, Quebec, Providence, Hull, and finally Ottawa …Last year as a player: 1941-42, with the OCHL Ottawa Montagnards.
