Could be found on defense as well as right wing … Played with the hometown Calgary Canadians in 1927-28 and 1928-29 … In 1929-30, played with the Boston Bruins (two goals, no assists in 16 games), Ottawa Senators (no goals, one assist in 18 games), and CAHL Philadelphia Arrows (one goal, one assist in six games) … One of only two Quakers to play with the Arrows (Wilf Cude played goal for the Arrows in 1932-33) … Started 1930-31 with the Bruins, playing nine games (no goals or assists) … Bruins traded Hutton, age 20, and Ron “Peaches” Lyons to the Quakers on December 8, 1930 for Harold Darragh ... Quaker Coach Cooper Smeaton said the deal “should bolster up our wings and bring fresh young talent into the team” … Stan Baumgartner of the Philadelphia Inquirer said Hutton was “the lad who looked so well” playing for the Arrows in 1929-30 but had no real chance to break into the lineup with the Bruins … Known as a solid checker, he got one goal and one assist for the Quakers in 21 games … His goal, scored against the Montreal Maroons on January 10, 1931, gave Philadelphia a 3-1 lead in a game the Quakers took in overtime, 4-3 … Hutton’s partner in the Bruins trade, “Peaches” Lyons, got the match’s game-winning goal ... That victory snapped the Quakers’ 15-game losing streak ... Quakers traded Hutton to the IHL Detroit Olympics for cash February 24, 1931 ... Hutton did not return to the NHL after the Quakers traded him … Played for four clubs in 1931-32 (the Olympics, Syracuse, Duluth, and the CAHL Boston Cubs) … Headed west afterwards to play for Calgary, Vancouver, Spokane, and Tulsa … Last year as a player: 1943-44 PCHL Vancouver St. Regis (five goals, seven assists).
