The success of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1970's could not have occurred without the coaching of Fred Shero. Broad Street Bullies aside, he implemented a modified version of what the Russians were using and with it made the Flyers one of the most dominating teams of the mid-to-late 1970's. His back-to-back Stanley Cups and the place the Flyers enjoy in hockey history is directly traceable to him, and as such the Hockey Hall of Fame should have room in it to honor him.

One of the most innovative coaches ever. Led the first of the expansion era teams to the Cup and did it back to back.

Definitely one of the great innovators in the history of the NHL. If Fred Shero is not a deserving candidate for induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame, I do not know who is.

An innovater and leader of men, a legend and the only real success behind the bench that the Flyers have ever known. His "bible" would be apt reading for today's sad squad.

Respect the fog. You may not agree with the methods employed by the Broad Street Bullies, but one can't begin to argue that he wasn't one of the best coaches of all time. He has a Calder Cup, a Memorial Cup, two Stanley Cups (four SC Final appearances), and a Jack Adams. If all of that isn't enough for a spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame then you might want to review a few other enteries that slipped in. |
